Protects local login to desktops for Windows® 2000, Windows® XP, Windows® Server 2003, and the Remote Desktop feature in Windows® XP.

Replaces Windows login prompt with a single RSA SecurID® prompt for EAP-based remote, post-dial terminal-based, or virtual private network (VPN) connections to Microsoft’s Routing and Remote Access Service (RRAS) server and Internet Authentication Services (IAS).

Protects wireless connections from Windows® XP through an 802.1x compliant access point to Microsoft Internet Authentication Services (IAS)

| Additional WLAN Requirements |
Required Client: Windows XP (SP1) Professional or Tablet. Client computers must have wireless LAN cards that support 802.1x
Required Server: Windows Server 2003
Required RADIUS server: Internet Authentication Service (IAS) connected to an access point that supports 802.1x PEAP. (Testing was performed on Cisco 1200 and 350 access points.)
To use Wireless LAN with PEAP, you must install Microsoft fix Article ID #827537 on the Windows XP client and the Windows Server 2003 host. To get the fix and installation instructions, see "Windows XP SP1 and Windows Server 2003 Client cannot connect to some third-party wireless implementations of 802.1X," in the Microsoft Knowledge Database.

For use of Terminal Services or Citrix Metaframe with Windows Server 2003, install hot fix article number 838462 from Microsoft web site. Without this fix, users will be prompted to authenticate with RSA SecurID even if they are configured in the terminal server for standard Windows authentication.
To use Wireless LAN with PEAP, you must install Microsoft fix Article ID #827537 on the Wireless XP client and the Windows Sserver 2003 host.
